|
|
We've just released a new bot for everyone to try out. The new BannerBot will let you create and place a talking Flash bot on your website. It's not the online Verbot that you all have been asking for, but it is free! This should be easy enough for anyone with a website to use. You just need to download a few files, enter the text that you want your bot to speak, and add a little code to your web pages.
Here's the link:

We plan on adding a lot more features (more layouts, more characters, and more voices). And of course, we're still planning on creating a web based Verbot for you.
Please try it out, and let us know what you think. Once you have it loaded on your site, post a link so we can all check it out. |

Ok, I went ahead and put a bot on my personal site.
I already see one bug: the text isn't wrapping in the text box. I'm sure we can fix that tomorrow. There were a few other minor things that could use some work, but hey, it's live in less than 5 min. |

A new version has been posted with lots of features.
-You can have a jpg background
-text shown or not
- a url to click (so you could make a ad banner if you like)
- 2 layouts
- 3 bots (however only the female voice is currently available)
There is more to come! So please go ahead and post feedback - and you're wishlist - and your thoughts - and um... Anything else you can think of that I'm to tired to think
The link remains: http://bannerbot.conversive.com/

Hi Aaron!
I tried going to your website but the avatar/face wouldn't open. _________________ "Whatever you're looking for, it's looking for you." |

Taunus-
What version of flash do you have? Right click on any flash on a website, and it should tell you. |

Hi Aaron!
Wow, am I ever impressed. That little touch of female voice does wonders! Oh, yes, I did as you suggested and downloaded a later version of Flash(?) or whatever. Now I need to ask, with only a homepage, like http://home.earthlink.net/~taunusscribe, can I get this fabulous female Crystal to say hello or do I need a bona fide web site? Thank you,

| You should be able to add the BannerBot to any website as long as you can edit the source code for the HTML pages. You'll also need a way to upload the flash (.swf) files. I'm pretty sure you can do it with the free web space from Earthlink. |

Hi Taunus,
I tried to do a quick test - to see what it would take to get a bannerbot on an earthlink template site.
It's a bit involved due to problems with paths - but it is possible.
I'll see which issues I can resolve before giving you a how to.
Here is the test site:

You should have an option on displaying the text if you only want to. I know since verbot cannot distinguish Acronyms, you sometimes have to space them out, but I wouldn't want everyone to see it in text form.
Just a suggestion. _________________ John A Brown

Hey Sportcastmedia,
Yep - the new version which includes an "almost" live preview includes turning off the text box.
The best part is it lets you enter a height and width you can preview in realtime.
