Linux compatible?

Postby Jadeyfish » Sat May 05, 2012 3:32 pm

Hello!
I saw a few questions about whether Verbots works on Linux and couldn't find an answer (maybe I'm just not looking hard enough?). I'm loving the idea of creating a KB soon for my own random uses, but ideally I wanted to create one for my final year project at University, but it would require usage of the terminal - I didn't know if this was a realistic idea or not?

Looking forward to being round the forums, and hopefully finding a voice for my avatar!

Jade :)

Welcome to Verbots Jadeyfish.
A solution was suggested here http://www.verbots.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3194&p=13484&hilit=linux#p13484 but I don't know if it was tested.
The Verbots software uses Microsoft .net and requires a Microsoft Operating System Environment to run.
What type of Linux are you using at University? Are you given access to X Windows on the University machine? I'll investigate other possibilities this week.

You might also want to look at forums / threads about using Visual Studio on Linux. It's very popular development software, and probably if you find a Linux environment that can run that, it will also run Verbot (because they both work with the .NET framework).

I don't think the standard verbot installs would work on Linux, with Mono you could probably get a command line version working with the code in the SDK though.

Verbots works on a virtual Windows XP (VMware) hosted on a Suse Linux workstation. Investigation continues.
