People Putty

Postby JammerJay » Sun Aug 28, 2005 10:06 pm

I downloaded a demo the other day and spent a few hours tinkering with it over weekend and I must admit that I was very impressed. At first it seems a bit limited but don't be discouraged. Once you uncover what it can really do, I guarentee that you will be pleased. Especially with the built in emotional states.

Just as soon as I have extra funds available I plan to purchase this software. Makes me wish I had discovered People Putty before I CyberBuddy. This thing puts CyberBuddy to shame and is a nice alternative if you are unable to afford Poser.

Both People Putty & Poser are graphics design programs specializing in emmulating the human form. Both would be perfect for creating custom agents that are not only realistic looking but capable of doing far more than anything we have currently, limited only by your own abilities or willingness to learn.

As far as Cyberbuddy goes, while you can create your own agents from pictures or other graphics I wouldn't recommend it for the serious Agent builder. While the program can create .ACS files automatically as well as add sound effects, the animation is very basic and sometimes downright cartoonish. It's ok if you're just looking to experiment with agents however I wouldn't recommend it if you want your project to be taken seriously.

This part of the process is more up to my speed. I've been dabbling with web design since the mid 90's and am better at creating graphics then I am at writing code.

Right now, I've been very lucky and managed to get my hands on 3DMeNow, one of the premier human GFX design programs used by movie makers & game designers alike. It's a very expensive program and I landed it for free. I've been playing with for the last couple of days which is why I haven't been around much lately.

I should be able to put together some really kick ass .ACS files in the near future and I would like to "overhaul" Julia or possible create a new agent unique to Verbot that vissually and interactively goes above & beyond any agent we've seen before.

Be warned my friends, holograms are coming!

nope... have no idea who either of you are. Even if I were him, I wouldn't have gotten upset that someone was using a nickname that I was well known for but not using on this particular forum (although I would've set the record straight if that person was claiming to be me). Who knows why folks choose the nicks that they use. I know darn good n well that I'm not the only JammerJay on the world wide web. Besides, I'm currently based out of North Carolina. Not much tech action going on here (At least not anymore since the economy has gone all to hell.) unless you attend or work for one of the major Universities which a are several hours away from where I reside. .

people putty

Postby infobot » Tue Sep 27, 2005 4:50 am

No puns intended on my part? Something, somehow.
Anyway, I was looking at that some time ago, the People Putty, looked interesting. Was ages ago, probably a lot of updates too. I'll check into it again. The 3DMe Now sounds fantastic. Be great to see some more agents, especially with those.

Holograms would be something. Even stuff like or close to holograms, for starters.
