Open CCS Format

Postby Matt » Sat Sep 08, 2007 9:56 pm

It would be really cool if Conversive was willing to Open Source the Character Studio Player and make the ccs xml format an Open standard. It would be great if developers could easily provide a way to integrate an animated talking character to their applications and web pages.

What do you guys think? I have heard at least one request for this in the past, is there anybody that would be interested in this with me?

It seems several chatterbots use a soft named "Haptek Player" for animations
See here

If no relation forget that

Yes, Haptek has been around forever, it was cool in the mid-90's, however I refuse to install a 3d-party plugin when I go to a website and therefore it will never be main-stream, flash is the way to go.

The Verbots online ccs player is flash and therefore much better because almost everyone has flash installed.

I think yer completely right (if I understood you right). Do you mention that everyone can create his own character with the CCS and then integrate it via CCS player on a webpage?

This would be revolutional. However the danger exists that within a few years 1/3rd of all YouTube videos might be faked with virtual characters ...

I only can say: I am strongly a pro of such a flexible, in the best way open solution! :D
